FYI for Carpal Tunnel sufferers

The PT I'm working with recommended this for when I'm working at my computer.  So I bought one.  Seems to help.

Any recommendations for avoiding Carpal Tunnel Syndrone are welcome. In my experience, avoiding repitition with sharp pains in the wrists, fingers and forearms is the first step. It sounds like common sense, but a few students that I went to college with got this syndrone from lack of common sense (i.e. they ignored an alarming pain).

You might want to look into the Taubman technique.  I suffered from pain in my arm and wrist from misuse in college.  After studying the Taubman technique for a few years I have realized that it is not how many times you play something, it is how you play it.  In other words, if you are playing something correctly it shouldn't hurt if you play it repetitively.

I am still retraining but have had so much relief from this technique.  Has anyone else studied it?  What were your experiences?  I was able to participate in my teacher's week long intensive in WI this past summer called The Balanced Pianist (www.balancedpianist.com).  She also holds one in Colorado.  It was a great environment to make progress in my playing.  I had a lesson every day of the workshop and had discussions with the instructors and other students about technique, performing, mindset, etc.  It had a great impact on me and I felt I left the workshop with a brand new arm.  I was completely pain free for the first time in three years.
