BEETHOVEN MASTER CLASS with BARENBOEM DVD
on: February 04, 2008, 09:42:05 PM
Who has seen this and what did you take from it? What were the most useful points that he made?
For myself there were many things, one was his description of three different kinds of time: a tempo where the feeling is horizontal, upright; a tempo where there is space and width; and a tempo with a leaning, forward momentum.
Also his point that of all the considerations when interpreting a piece, tempo is not the first, but the LAST consideration in this process.

Sounds like a fascinating DVD. I've heard Barenboem twice in live concert. Whatever he says, he can deliver... a remarkable artist.

Parts of this can be found on Youtube. I found it interesting.
