Scriabin: Fantasy in B Minor, Op. 28
on: February 12, 2008, 08:06:03 PM
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite pieces.  Stunning in its virtuosity, this ultraromantic piece is perhaps excessive, but a wonderful piece in itself.

Here is a fine performance.

What are your opinions?

Daniel
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

I saw Sasha Anissimov play this and I was blown away, by both the repertoire and the playing. One of Scriabin's more accessible works, but similarly quite hard by the casual listener's standards.

I've played this piece probably dozens of times in concerts. For me, it's one of Scriabin's most impressive early pieces, and audiences seem to enjoy it. The arpeggios on the last page or two are a bit tricky though.

Could this be the J.Powell?

I wouldn't know, I haven't been around here that much. Anyways, good show, love the recordings.

I'm in the process of making myself much more familiar with Scriabin's music, I'm beginning to find it very special.
