The most egotistic thread ever
on: February 16, 2008, 12:22:20 AM
As the title of this thread states, this is quite possibly the most egotistic thread ever on this forum.  I'm aware of it, and thus your comments on this thread being as such are pointless.

Considering my user name, I'm sure most of you can guess who I am.  If you can't, let me tell you: Soliloquy, I Love Xenakis, Skeptopotamus; whichever you prefer.  Because being banned is a very minor annoyance, I am making this thread so-as to not have to keep making new screen names, because I liked the screen name "Soliloquy" =/

The point of this thread is: most people who know who I am think I'm a dick.  And that's a sort of fair assumption, because quite often on this forum I am being a total ***.  But the reason I'm making this thread is because I want to illustrate something:

I'm going to be nice to you if you're nice to me.
I'm going to be nice to you if you say something intelligent.
I'm going to be nice to you if you're asking for help.
I'm probably going to be sincerely nicer to you and go further out of my way to help you.

Anyone who's been on this forum for a while knows this is true.  Even the people who hate me the most have to admit that.

Now if you're NOT familiar with me, then you're probably wondering why I would say most people then think I'm a jerk.  Well, that's because, believe it or not, I am not the only dick on this forum.  There are plenty of others.  Just think of me as the uber-jerk.  I am the one who, as you noticed, knows there is no such word as "egotistical", I am the one who puts the others in their place, I am the one with the least tolerance for assholes and stupidity.  Because there's so much of that on this forum, you're going to probably see me lashing out a lot of members more often than other people, not to say there is ANYONE here who isn't a total *** occasionally or even frequently.  Some just aren't as verbal or write quite as long posts as I do.

Here's the point of this post.  Just look at the posts I've made on the forum under this screen name so far.  I made a couple jokes, and then I had one of my regular trollers harass me and call me a pseudo-intellectual.  You're going to notice me pounding a couple people into the ground.  But what I want you to notice is who harassed who first.  That is really all.

So, here's how it works.  If you just so utterly despise me you are totally incapable of saying anything humane to me, then just ignore me if you don't want me to tear you up.  Because as my history dictates, I am not the one to ever *start* fights.  But if you get in a fight with me and call me names, don't you dare pregnant dog at me when I don't just let you get away with it.  That's what I find ridiculous.  Someone picks a fight with me, my posts are longer and nastier, and suddenly I'm the evil one.  Just don't harass me and you know I won't bother you; think about it logically!  If you're someone I don't like then WHY IN THE WORLD would I want to talk to you?  Simply, I don't, so expect me to ignore you and not cause you any problems as long as you do the same for me.  In fact I've never been one to hold a grudge; if we hate eachother and you talk to me in a nice way, I'll probably give you the same courtesy.  So if you're going to respond to this thread be careful what you say.  You can tell me I'm wrong; just do so in a civil matter, IE an actual argument and not an attack, and that's what you'll get from me.  Call me names and expect to be e-raped.  This thread is going to be a good example of what I'm talking about, me thinks.  Basically, don't dish it out if you can't take it.  As long as you can do that we'll be fine :)

That is all.

Your problem is that you can actually spell and write intelligent posts. This is sufficient to be attacked by some of the amoebas which inhabit the lower depths of this place, who only come out when someone displays thinking with 2 cells and above.

I am glad you are back as this place was becomming a trifle boring.

Oh I see.  I still think my basterisk is better.  Say it with a slur :)

And..... I doubt it.  I admit posting a link to that thing was definitely inappropriate, and I think Nils is fully aware that I won't be doing anything of the sort again.

Good to see you back. I've been neglecting the forum lately as it has been devoid of interesting discussion for quite some time now. Do you still want to touch my stomach? :P

I wasn't suggesting you be banned. I was just translating Pies's oh so thoughtful and considerate post :P

I just cannot help but wonder (in my very occasional idle moments) what Xenakis might have made of all of these exchanges...

(...but then perhaps I shouldn't...)

He may not appreciate some of the things being said about him, although he might get a kick out of the fact that he's the reason for two of the most controversial threads on this forum :O
