Transcription ??

Does a transcription need to have exactly the same number of measures or it is common to reduce the number of measures (shorten) too? Please advise.

A transcription can become a paraphrase if you modify it too much. But yes I guess you can shorten it a bit. It's just a less fidel transcription.
