Tcherepnin Bagatelle Pedalling Question
on: April 27, 2004, 03:57:38 AM
Any suggestions on pedalling the 6th Bagatelle in G-flat.
There is no indication in my score.

How to write this without a score? I will try.

Bars 1 – 8: Pedal every two triplets (Lh) – that is, there should be 4 pedal points in each bar – or, you should press the pedal at every quaver (in the countermelody on the LH) and keep it pressed for the two triplets. then release and press it again on the next quaver (syncopated pedal). Does that make sense?

Bars 9 – 11 – keep the pedal pressed for the whole bar (release in between bars).

Bar 12: Keep the pedal pressed for the first 3 beats (this is the bar where the time signature changes to 6/2) and release on the C natural (right after the fourth beat).

Bars 13 – 16 – exactly as in bars 1- 8

Bar 17 – hold the pedal until the last note, and then release on the rest.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Bernhard,

Thank you.  It makes perfect sense.

You are welcome. :)

This is a nice piece. Tcherepenin should be more played.
