How do you get the creative juices flowing?
on: March 05, 2008, 03:23:49 AM
What controls it?

I'm just getting all these ideas.  Working on a higher-than-normal level.  I like it.  Very much.  Not just in music.  In writing.  In personality.  It's great.

I think it's just from digging in on projects, but... It seems to be a muse visiting.  Like flipping a switch on.

I'd like to be able to get this back.  There have been times when I just keep producing things -- like lessons plans.  Crank them out.  After awhile that seems to dry out though, but you keep cranking and I think everyone can tell those are extremely dull.

This though.  I don't know what I did tonight.  I want more for sure.   8)

Must be rest... staying positive... getting things done, or thinking you are... digging into a project... having plenty of repetion, learning the material enough so you can start to experiement with it, and experiment with effort, play... and putting things together into a final, finished product.  I suppose accepting the results you're producing too...  Being happy with the outcome of the work and results of experiments.  The answer must be in there somewhere.

It's very energizes..  :) :) :)   The flow state.

I know what you mean.  Usually when I'm on a productivity roll, I'm usually excited and enthuiastic about what I am doing.  Sometimes I just want to keep going, even if sleepy or hungry.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Exactly how quantum has put it - same thing happens to me when I am really in the mood........spending 1 hour during midnight hours on finalising  that ONE Note in the tune I am composing!

Since I also write - have 3 of my plays staged and the fourth is having its premiere on 27th of this month, besides a novel in its final stages of publication - I switch between both creative activities to lessen the tediousness of any particular involvement.

I find it is environment which is most important. You can be all charged up but where you are pulls you right back down.

Well I lost it.  I'm tired again now.

I think the appearance or belief in your success can give you some energy though.  That's good to know.
