Need Finale Help quick!
on: March 07, 2008, 07:52:38 PM
Hey this is like the easiest question for anyone who's good with Finale but I just can't figure it out =/

How do you move measures vertically?  Because I have a couple instances where the beams on the notes go way up onto the ledger lines and then I have instructions beneath the notes on the above measures, so they get in eachothers' way.  I just need to space out my measures more.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Sorry, I usually use Noteworthy Composer.  On that program this is easy to do, it is called staff separation and is well described in the Help files.  I would think Finale has the same help available, you just need to search with the right words.

Click on the Layout button (it's the last one on the right in Finale 2007--presumably the same for all versions--looks like a blank piece of paper.) Each staff will then be outlined with dashes and you'll see  small boxes in the corner of each outline. Click on the bottom right box and you'll be able to drag the staves (staffs?) up and down. I hope this is clear.

Ooops...I didn't reply to the original post--sorry!

Yes, the Page Layout Tool.  In 2006 the icon looks like a white piece of paper over a yellow piece of paper.

Actually in my version you don't have to drag the box to reposition the staff.  Just click anywhere in the middle of the outlined area to drag.  You can use the white boxs to resize the dimensions of the staff boundaries.

Horizontal adjustment of measures is done in the measure tool.  You click and drag the topmost white box.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
