How to start/analyze a new piece?
on: March 07, 2008, 09:56:20 PM
Starting a piece is critical to how well and how motivated one will be while attempting to finish a new piece of music.
I would like to get a few suggestions from the Piano Street world on how one should start, analyze, and finish a new piece of music. Also, are there any secret tips or techniques that can help one finish a new piece faster??
All, suggestions will be of great help. Thanks

Secret tips? Yes, of course. I can't tell you them though. They're secret. You have to ask the right people the right way. Know the special code to get those secret tips.
I'd start with a broad overview. Form/sections, key, texture- how many lines going on at once? Tempo, character of the piece. Then work in on more detail from there.
