The whole documentary is stunning. John Ogdon was simply a legend and will continue to be missed.

Those looked like excessively heavy pages, Alistair. How did you manage?  :O

As you saw that I did (in the odd instance where it is possible to see one of them being removed)!

Not so.

His left had was seen on the South Bank Show.
By "had" I think you mean "hand", but, again, not so; for all that the idea of south paw on South Bank might have fit your expectations, I was using my right hand, so no one actually viewing the programme would have seen my left at any point in the proceedings. Ever been "had", Thal?...

I read he made some arrangements of Cole Porter and such. Do any of you know anything about those?. Would be interesting to take a peek.  :D

Now if only Joe Patrych (please, everybody hound him about this: he's on the Web, e-mail, Facebook, AIM (jppiano) etc.) would send me his video of Powell playing the O. c. in NYC. I sent him some bootleg Powell recordings I had and he never returned the favor.

Tsktsk.,

Ryan.

One might wonder if "Arm" is a mis-spelling...

Live rare video of Powell practicing THE OC INTROITO (CRAZY TEMPI) with HAMELIN turning pages:

Oh, yes, it's "rare" all right. Hamelin is exceedingly "rare" in his visual manifestation as page turner here and, whilst the pianist's face is never fully displayed, what does show of it is, without doubt, even "rarer" as a representation of Jonathan Powell (not that you actually mentioned "Jonathan", of course...).

So, in the context, "arse" wouldn't do so it would have instead to be "ass" in order to satisfy your three-letter stricture (although I'm sure that Elliott Carter never thought about such issues when writing his Three-Letter Letter)...
