COMPUTER GEEK REQUIRED
on: March 19, 2008, 08:29:42 PM
Dear All,

My e mails are driving me mental.

Over the last couple of months, my computer has started to ask for a user name and password whenever i want to check my e mails. Usually, after doing this for half a dozen times it starts to receive e mails, but today it just won't stop prompting me to enter a password (which is in memory anyway).

This has happened about 200 times today, and i cannot receive any e mails.

100 cream eggs to whoever can solve this for me.

Sounds like a problem on the server side, Thal.

Sounds like a problem on the server side, Thal.

You can confirm this by trying to get email from another computer.

If the problem is your computer, check that your browser is still "accepting cookies".
Look in browser for something like Tools-->Options-->Privacy  etc.

Good luck on this one. Computer problems sometimes are mind-boggling to fix.

Where are your outlook e-mails coming from? (i.e. what's the domain name?)

It could just be that outlook express is the knocked-down free version of a shoddy piece of software. Try thunderbird instead.

It's quite similar, but a lot better.

Restore your computer to an earlier date.  Worked for me.

I ditto this.  Use Thunderbird.  If you appreciate how much better Firefox is to IE, then you will probably like Thunderbird.
