How to Determine Grade Levels?
on: March 27, 2008, 04:47:56 PM
I'm sure that there have been threads along these lines, but for the life of me I cannot find them. . . .
______

I do not know how to determine what grade level I am previously playing. How do I determine this? Is it by which pieces I am currently WORKING ON or which pieces I have played/performed and levels that I can comfortably sight-read??

Currently, I am working on Mozart's K545, but am still getting it up to tempo. I started playing Debussy's "La fille aux chevaux de lin," but I'm just in the learning stage. . . .

Theory is good, but I'm not an "expert" - ((Don't know if that's relevant at all  ;))).

If you can help, that'd be great; If it's something that you can't tell me just from my description over the Net, of course that's fine (lol - now that I've given you my permission, of course. . .  ;) ;D).

Thanks,

~Essyne~

I would say that you are at the Grade that you know all the required elements to pass that Grade.

So, if you know the complete syllabus for Grade 4 then you are at Grade 4 level.

EDIT: Just to let everyone know, that makes me "Grade 1", as I passed that as a child.
