I like this sonata.  It sounds so much like the way Haydn writes with many contrasting moods. 

I think the character starts out much sweeter, almost anguishing.  The stacatto rising arpegio is like anger which is contrasted by the right hand descending motive which is almost like crying.  It should be very legato, soft and decrescendo to achieve this effect.  It's like desparation.  I think if you tried to make it sound more like this character it would sound much more effective.

I think the flourish in the major mode, right before the section cadence sounds right, almost joyous and it was brought appropriately.

Overall, I would like to hear the passages softer.
I just found the music.   My edition (Wienner Urtext) indicates a P dynamic mark.  I think this is right because it suits the character.

Thank you for sharing this.  Haydn is coming into favor with me for some reason.  I've never heard this sonata before but I like it very much.
