Something to calm yourself down?
on: April 03, 2008, 01:00:16 AM
Is there any food or something that with calm you down?

Sometimes, often times lately, I find I'm working on projects.  I hype myself up to get something done with them... then find I'm still hyped up but I need to sleep.

Any way around that?  I dont' mind the hyped up part.  It's actually nice sometimes.  I just don't like being stuck like that.

I do the same thing after a show/performance/even rehearsals - pretty much every time I do anything artistic  ;). Anyways, I do yoga, or even just breathing exercises. Anything meditative that can calm your mind is key. People recommend not to take showers late at night, but for some reason that's the only way I can calm down and claim my highly prized 2-4 hours of sleep. Carbohydrates (Italian food!! - pastas, etc. (man I love my mother  ;D)) will help you sleep as well, but don't eat after 6 or 7 (if you're stretching it).

There's a thread somewhere on here about insomnia, and Thal had some good advice, but I don't know where it is. . . .

So, essentially, RELAX and eat lots of carbs! (not a bad life, eh?)

A secluded balcony with a hot tub, 80 F in the air. A soft breeze with the sun in your face. And a glass champagne in your hand and some Mozart on the stereo.

Read "lucylucys" posts, and realise that at least you have a brain, and can articulate yourself in a civilised manner.  :P
