A little 'jazz'
on: April 06, 2008, 07:01:11 PM
Well, only the harmonies borrowed from the jazz idiom - the style is probably far off. Anyway, here's a little arrangement of an unidentified song. This is the computer playing (not live).

Hi cygnus,
The song is "The Shadow of Your Smile" from the film "The Sandpiper" (1965) staring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Yeah, I'm old enough to remember stuff like that
. Several singers recorded it, but probably Tony Bennett's version is most memorable.
For a classical pianist, I think you did a nice job with this. A really good effort!

Rachfan - thanks for listening and for your feedback!
The reason I didn't identify the song is so that ASCAP won't sic their dogs at me, but the cat is out of the bag .....
Anyway, the version I'm more familiar with is Stevie Wonder's, which I think has the bossa nova rhythm I tried to reproduce.
