Work, work, work... How to enjoy the journey more?
on: April 07, 2008, 04:07:06 AM
I think listening to music while you work helps a lot.

But, how else to enjoy the journey?  Work is mandatory.  As much as you can.

What DOES Bob do?

Is it really that miserable?

You make it seem like dumpster diving and living in Central Park would be better than your current occupation.  :(.

Working at a chain retail store does pop in my mind.

That would do it.

No, no.  I don't work at a store. (rolls eyes)  I meant that pops into my mind instead of this.  I'm still up working on this stuff.  (catches eyes and puts them back in sockets.)

((Rolls eyes in return and wishes that she had some incredibly witty comment to reply with.))

Maybe you should "get sick" for a few days and take a vaycay to Cabo.

(Bob wonders what the heck just squished under his shoe....)

Sick wouldn't matter.  Work still has to get done.  There's just no end to it.

Today I got dinged too.  Did my best but...  not quite on par, and even if I worked harder and focused more, the result probably would have been very similar.  Unless I became an uber drone or something....

I'm still wondering about this.  It's same cycle, over and over...

Maybe you could just - - - - stop the cycle?

I'm sure that you could find something else that is more rewarding. Why be stuck in a rut and not enjoy your life? If you're really that miserable, shouldn't you be researching other options? Maybe you could examine what got you in this "rut" to begin with (doing some "soul searching" never hurt).

I'm not.  This is how it is.  For now.  It's kind of a long but temporary thing.  I hope.

Thinking aloud again...

There's no end to the work.

I can wear myself out attempting to do the work, either from working too intensely or too long.  Capacity and endurance.  Wearing out means I have to recover.  Stress and heal.  That's probably part of the process of getting stronger though, or it's possible.

It's seems like I'm justing trading my time.  My time for money.  My time for information or skill.  Not enjoying the journey then.  Just trading.

Fish make me happy.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Imagine being a fish or a shark.  They are never allowed to stop swimming or they will suffocate.  Imagine if they considered the obligation to swim as a chore.

That's good to know.

I like cheese.

Maybe there's something to that, eh?

That you'd rather be a mouse than a fish perhaps?  :D

I think I'd rather be the eagle and stay above all that.

I'm also noticing it's a lot more interesting to do other things when I'm supposed to be working on something.

It's probably not a great sign when my name is plasted as the last poster on so many topics.   (sigh)

Then again, things are actually more interesting when there are other things to do.
