New Piano Market Statistics: Inside the Quiet Transformation of Piano Playing

For those of us who spend our lives on the bench — whether teaching, practicing for a recital, or simply playing for the love of it – the piano has always been a singular concept: wood, felt, strings, and soul. 4.10.08 -- Improv
on: April 10, 2008, 11:01:58 PM
I will admit
to having been intoxicated
by a particular perfume while improvising;
I believe the aroma
to have seeped through my skin,
and into the music.

I am struck by the beauty and suggestion of the simple melodic phrases and chords, particularly around 1:20 to 2:40. It certainly generated visions but, in my case, not olfactory associations. However, this for me is the power of music, this metamorphosis from creator's intent to listener's brain. Real magic.

Ted, thanks for stopping by, listening and commenting.  At first I didn't know what you meant by the olfactory comment, but then I remembered my silly post and realized what you were referring to ... hee hee.

Thanks :).

I am listening to this again now, and this is definitely a special one.
So well-expressed that it sounds like you unearthed a treasure from
a composer whose music had never been heard before.

You know, it just came to the surface for me that your chords are locked and rich.  The soul just drinks them in.  They are a real salient pleasure in your playing.  :)
