Well that sounds illegal, the photocopies.  Unless the teacher made them themselves.

Ask your teacher what book to use.  If you walk in with something, they may want you to have the "other" book.

Lesson books...depending on your age and skill, are available in many different levels.  As a self taught adult, I have used "Alfreds All In One Adult Course", "Rocket Piano", "e-Media Piano and Keyboard Basics", and "Teach Me Piano Deluxe".  The last 3 are software programs that are inexpensive.  My only disappointment with the Alfred's book was I did not purchase the lesson CD with the book.  For me, I need to HEAR how the lesson sounds.  The software programs should NOT replace a teacher if you plan to be serious in your study.  I don't ever plan to play at a Master's level, I just enjoy plinking away on the keys.
Good luck with your study,
Hope I've been a little helpful

After a little "Google" research.  I came up with the following link.

https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/enter.html?s=googleds&t=method&e=pm&k=c01g04&cid=435109222&dist=S&SR=6720e151e

This web site has MANY different methods for all levels of pianists.
Sift through the different titles and see what suits your interest.  I'm sure you'll find something to your liking.

Again...Good luck.
