unscented powder for hands?
on: April 27, 2008, 09:26:30 PM
I think I may have even asked this before.

Once in awhile, I want my hands drier on the keyboard.  If only there were powder I could put on them to dry them up.

Baby powder stinks.  And I'm a guy.  That's not a manly smell.

Is there an unscented powder?  What do atheletes use?

Picking up an old dusty book works too, but that is a little gross. :-X

There is a talcum powder sold in ACE hardware stores called "Anti- Monkey- Butt Powder".   No, I am Not Kidding.

I suppose the marketing is directed to "manly" guys like Bob who don't want to to smell girly, but still want to keep their hands, crotch and butt dry while on the job.

Yeah, I caved and bought some; I liked the pic of the red monkey on the yellow bottle.

Works OK... Best of all I still smell like a brute! ;D

I was just thinking of hands thanks.

Talcum powder is the same as baby powder right?

I put baby powder on bike tires when I change them and stink like baby powder for awhile.  It's just one more thing.

I don't know which would be worse to buy.  Baby powder or just going into a hardware store and buying that one thing.  "Um, yes, hello.  Do you have any Anti-Monkey Butt Powder?"  And then I'll find out bench warmer really was joking.

Not Joking!
This ACE store is in Sarasota, Fl. on Bee Ridge Road just west of MacIntosh.

Now I bought this a few months ago when I was there for the Winter. You might be able to order it from ACE Hdwre. online and save yourself the embarassment of thinking that other people are thinking you actually need this stuff.

The scenting come from the "other" ingredients that are added. Talc is a naturally unscented mineral. This stuff didn't smell so sweet as that baby-stuff.

(Bob shakes head.)  Everything has a website now....

I was just thinking of sweaty hands.  I suppose I might need it because I play so fast that I create friction between my fingers and the keys... thus needing Anti-Monkey-Butt powder for my fingertips.

i powder my hands and the keyboard really well before a performance ( to a point where the black keys look all whitish )-and i always make sure that there is a small container full of powder hidden in the piano for more application to the hands and keyboard in between pieces.

for me it's not to dry the hands per se, but more to make fingers easily slide in and out the keyboard-to get that nice powdery, smooth, slidable feeling between the finger tips and the surface of the keyboard. slide....slide....slide....

and what powder? well, whatever, really. i found HEROCYN medicated skin powder, and been using it since. seriously, and i don't have skin problem and i always smell macho btw... :D

ps. proof of powder application before performing:
