MY RETURN
on: May 17, 2008, 04:37:24 PM
Yes, everyone misses me, haven't they?

Well perhaps you have noticed how I have suddenly stopped posting and seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Want to know the reason? I quit piano, I haven't touched it for a year+. I don't think I can even play Fur Elise now.

Two hours ago, I happened to stumble upon a video of the first mephisto waltz by Liszt, and all of a sudden, I just felt so sore. I want to play the piano again. I have been playing the cello often right now (my main specialization, and I am learning the last variation of Rococo if anyone is interested). I just want to play piano again, and play something like Mephisto Waltz, or Heroic Polonaise (the first piece I heard when I was young and made me want to learn piano).

Last time I tried to pick it up, i just hated my playing. It was sloppy and untechnical, even for a person who has played the Pathetique or some Scriabin Etudes. Now I really want to master the piano, play Rachmaninov solemnly with beauty within, play Scriabin 'promiscuously' and all that.

Now I should probably start from Fur Elise. I have played piano for 4-5 years, and my playing gets worse as I move up.

Please support.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

You've been missed.

And anyone who has the intestinal fortitude to expose himself yet one more time to that virus of a composition known as "Fur Elise," has my fullest and complete support.

I'd put that particular Beethoven in mothballs and work up the first movement of Opus 110.  It ain't that hard technically and offers more bang for the buck and . . . it's infinitely less irritating.
