Best sources for piano information on the internet?
on: May 18, 2008, 01:04:17 AM
A site? A group? A list?
A place where performers or more teachers gather?
There must be a site. This one is decent, but it seems to be mostly teens and amateur musicians.
I googled for info about a piano topic. I got info, but... There's just soooo much garbage. Of course then I'm wondering who those people are who gave the info. And then... if there's a more definitative, authoritative source? A professional site? Although it would still just be that one person's opinion, but... Is there a site or forum by a professional performer or high level teacher?

I have spent hours searching the net and have come up with nothing particularly authoritative. There are three sites with pretty good beginner teacher and beginner student information (Including Marbeth and Practice Spot) but these are basic and quickly exhausted (and I think everyone knows about them, anyway).
Anything but Chang's book provides a brief overview of philosophies with the intention to draw people into buying products (book or video) - that seem focused on one concept and pretty much the same as everything else. Perhaps anyone with the real expertise is so busy with the students and performances under their care, or perhaps it is a matter of some things at an advanced level not being explainable - but requiring one-on-one coaching.
I would be so happy if someone did actually know something to recommend.
