on: May 07, 2004, 09:54:12 AM
I'm trying to find out more information about this person online but can't seem to find anything.
Does anyone know where she is from?
Thanks,

Do a google search on “Maria Ewing”. It will return 87700 entries. Take your pick.
Best wishes,

I would have googled and yahood before posting a message here, I'm not that stupid...
Surprisingly all of the search hits say nothing about her and where she's from. All of the links give the movie or DVD that she did, or trying to sell something that she did.

Ok.
Maria Ewing was born in Detroit, Michighan, USA, on the 27 March 1950. At one point she was married to the theatre director Peter Hall with whom she has a daughter, Rebecca (also an actress).
I am sure you are not stupid. However, you may lack persistence. As I said, Googling Maria Ewing will return 877000 entries. Amongst the first 400 I found the following which may be of interest to you:
https://www.celebrityproductions.org.uk/person.php?personid=87
(short biography, with emphasis on her musical career )
https://us.imdb.com/name/nm0263987/
(date of birth, place of birth, filmography and discography)
https://www.compleatseanbean.com/macbeth-press51.html
(A bit about her ex husband Peter Hall and her daughter Rebecca)
Since the subject holds little interest to me, I stopped the search , but I am sure you may find even more stuff if you keep going.
(I may get the Salome DVD, though, after some of the reviews I read he he
)
"Maria Ewing probably set a new standard for the Dance of the Seven Veils," said local opera expert Jim Becker, 75, speaking of one of the more memorable "Salome" performances he's witnessed during a long life of opera-going. "She took it all off -- I mean all -- at Covent Garden in London. She's a gorgeous creature, and I guess she decided to flaunt it. But it makes a tough standard for the other girls."
“If you want to see a first rate Salome on DVD get the one with Maria Ewing. When she drops the seventh veil you will join with King Herod and shout Wundervoil!”
Best wishes,
Bernhard.
