Bortkiewicz, Prelude, Op. 33, No. 6 in C#m
on: May 19, 2008, 07:33:51 PM
The set of Preludes Op. 33 was composed by Sergei Bortkiewicz while he resided in Vienna and was published by D. Rahter in 1926.  Prelude No. 6 has a very dark beauty to it.  Yet it seems filled with angst and sorrow, and even seems funereal.  The piece ends on two very low notes of irrevocable finality--like the sound of doom.

Comments welcome.

Piano: Baldwin Model L Artist Grand (6'3")

Recorder: Korg MR-1000 DSD

Mics: Nakamichi small diaphragm MD-300 electret condenser mics with omni-directional capsules.  Mics were placed in A-B configuration.

I enjoyed it immensely.

Do not remove it.
