You can certainly have electric ones. GM flunked theirs (the EV1) and nothballed it after spending a fortune on it but Lotus has an electric sports car.

Well, maybe not hydro cars, but you gotta check this out!
The air car is here! I almost want to move to France just so I can buy one of these! Apparently they're working on US distribution as well, but I'm sure they face an uphill battle considering how the oil and motor companies pretty much run this country.
