I think you mean LB's not Kg Zheer. I've trained at different gym's all around the world for over 20 years and I have never seen anyone arm curl that amount of weight. I'm icluding people on steroids with 21inch biceps..

Yes yoo are right, however its a different type of arm curl, its the one where you pull a metal bar down, and yes honestly I mean Kg, lots of people can do it.

It is with most people.

Careful weight training can change this. After all, the aim should always be symmetry as opposed to mass.

Thal

ahh i see...

so i should work more on the smaller body side to reach symmetry?

This is where some artistic ability is useful. However if you simply train all your body parts equally you will grow equally. Its true body builders, the good ones anyway sculpt their body, they look in the mirror and think, this needs to be bigger than that, that needs to be smaller ect ect. But for us mortals a good work is good enough.

but what if i dont have any artistic ability, at least in this regard? i thought i have trained them equally, arrgh.... but maybe its due to the instruments at  my gym! they are crooked coz they are cheapo  and dont align well ( have swayed ).

I'd buy my own weights and save money in the long run. You don't have to go to gym unless you want to be a body-builder.

True these new guys are so big they make Arnold look small-ish, and good for that matter.
BTW Frank Zane was anything but small, those are seriously big muscles, It's just that the other guy are more bulky.

The truth is 99% of women don't care about muscle, in-fact they find it ugly, even frank Zane. Still I'd rather be happy with myself, rather than try to impress women.

Actually women like tall dark handsom, most guys including I are not. So might as-well build muscle, call it what you like.

The lightest I've ever weighed was 65 Kg, I really didn't like it. Today I weigh 70 Kg when in good shape, but I'm no-where near what I've planed for my self. Here are my current measurment.

  Chest 39/40"

 Forearm 11.31"

Waist size 31", ideal waist size for me would be 27"

 Thigh sze 20.67"

  Hip size 33.15

  calf size 13.26"

  Bicep size 14.04"

  Neck size 14.43"

I currently weigh around 72 kg, which is good, but most of my body fat is round my waste, and like I said I'm only 172 cm in stature, but you would not want to pick a fight with me.
I need another 5 years to get to where I want to be, and believe I will get their, grrrrrrrrr.

14inch forearm is impressive.  Don't get down on yourself, but don't give up either.

Don't get down on yourself

Same problem as before, stomach would be in the way.

I try not to get down, but when you reach your 40's and you can't do what you did in your 20's, it is a little depressing.

Oh my gosh, guys. . .

So I'm staying at the Uni this week (Vocal Summer Intensive Program) and the football players are here at the same time - these guys are HUGE! I've never seen anyone this big before. . . it's like the freaking Hulk or something.

Anyway, just don't get TOO big. . . It's really unattractive (Needless to say, as I told one of the pianists here . . . I'd take a Musician over a jock any day of the week :P).

This reminds me of this one time when this 7 foot something black man walked into the gym where I'm at. I swear the guy was some genetic freak, HUGE he made me look like a 9 year old, I actually felt like a kid standing next to him. Anyway rather be me.

Yes I know a lot of women don't like big muscle, if truth be told some huge guys have in-security issues, inferiority complex. You do realize its like really difficult to build muscle, and even more difficult to do it correctly, I swear it takes some intelligence.

No your intelligent, but to do anything well, we need to use our head, like research, planing, even maths is required for body-building. Next time your at the gym pay really close attention with what your doing, think of ways to improve ect ect. Really I mean it its essential that we use our mind.

Sure you probably are very secure, truly men including I do some-times do funny things when a little insecure, we are all just human after all. But I definitely recommend every-one to at least try it, it has a feel good factor.

*Sighs*..yeah, but it doesnt mean that i am so against activities that require less brain.

oh n btw, i've consumed good amount of protein these days, but haven't worked out much :-[, only1 hour swim everyday. now my question: what happens with the protein in our body if we do not use them all coz we dont work out so much? is it going to be stored in the body as protein and be used for future activities? or will it become fat? or? thanks, dr. zheer.

Three things will happen that I know of if too much protein is consumed daily. Firstly you start to smell bad and you wont perform as well, secondly it's not good for you bones, I'm not sure exactly how but it will eventually cause you physical problems. Thirdly what you don't burn in your daily activity will eventually be stored as body fat.

Swimming is good, but it wont build you body, try a combination of things like swimming which is excellent and body-building. I saw this clip on you tube, and Frank Zane mentioned how useful it is to do a combination of things.

If you weigh 68 Kg have no more than 134 grams of protein, do less cardio and more pumping Iron, it will take a lot of hard work and time, but the formula is this: eat regularly a good diet, eat more than you usually do, drink soya protein shake ( optional ) and most importantly burn calories correctly. You couild do some research into physiology, I think thats how you spell it.

Today was a seriously good day at the gym for me, I took a risk and lifted more weights than usual, I thought I may crash and born with an injury, but all went well, I swear its like climbing a mountin.

  Anyway more tips.

1- To increase strength, keep a record of what your lifting, and gradually over weeks or months increase that weight little by little.

2- As you increase the amount you lift, personally I like to eat a littel more, especially protein, because you need it for growth.

3- Avoid too much cardio and starving yourself, because you will lose muscle and therefore gain fat insted.

4- I've discoverd the valuse of stretching the arms between sets of lifting, it will reduce the chances of injuring yourself, which will slow you down a great deal.

5- Its important to have fun and enjoy the feeling of strength that comes as you train over time, believe me it feels in the words of Arnold Shwazenegger " FANTASTIC"

6- Never give up to pain.

I've read that it's a myth that women can get a masculine physique from exercising- that they don't have enough testosterone.  I'm sure I could dig up a reference for you.

I was thinking about this thread while exercising today. Ladies (if there are any of you out there  ;)), I just wanted to say don't fall into the trap of "this is what your body SHOULD look like"/all that generic b.s. . . . Ever since I quit ballet, I've pretty much abandoned the "I'm nearly 6 feet tall but think I should look like an anemic, starving, 5 foot 2 ballerina with a petite frame" mentality. EATING, believe it or not, is a very nice thing to do. If you have the potential for a muscular (yet feminine) frame, pleeeassee spare yourself the trouble and just work toward that muscular (yet feminine) frame. It's what YOU should look like. And, it's quite nice having muscle. I'm just doing it now, and am thoroughly enjoying watching my body develop. Don't be afraid of weights. They won't bite. (and rounding out a routine with yoga/pilates will enhance the "feminine" look. . . ) If you live somewhere where you can't get to a class, buy some tapes or DVD's. . . Bryan Kest, baby! (haha, I must (off-handedly) admit - I absolutely a.d.o.r.e. 80's advanced step aerobics. . . ).

ANYway . . .  ;).

Not only that, but it's essential. I see some women in the gym that work-out regularly and you can tell that they also eat well, so as you can imagin they are hot. Obviously women need muscle, but if you start seeing vains on your arm, yup you've probably gone too far. I think women need just a very thin layer of fat on their body so they don't get that CUT or RIPPED look that men have, you know the RAMBO thing.

Actually for those who want to build muscle, it's a good idea and it's what I do once or twicw a week, which is to eat a lot, as much as you like, good stuff though so that for the rest of the weeks work-out your burning fat and not muscle.

Fantastic, that's what we  should aim for, anything bigger than that is too big and ugly. I don't think we can achieve that, coz you'd have to be a professional and well it's so difficult. I've been into, Yoga, martial arts and weight training since 12, so I know what this guy must have gone through to get where he's at.
