Is this really true?  Did they rename and move their capital?  I saw enough hits for Brasilia but it sounds like a nice joke too.  (Is this just another example of dumbing down the standards?  Rio de Janeiro?  No, no.  That's too difficult.  Let's call it something else...)

Does that show any less imagination than calling the capital city of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City?

That's what I was watching.  I STILL Know What You Did Last Summer.

I decided to check.  They said Rio.  I wasn't sure.  Then I found the wikipedia page and doubted it.  But there are a lot of links, so I'm guessing it's true.  I don't think they put a lot of thought into that name.

The capital of Djibouti is Djibouti (city), the capital of Mexico is Mexico City, the capital of Guatemala is Guatemala city, the capital of Kuwait is Kuwait city and the capital of Tunisia is Tunis. Probably many others too.

The capital of Norway is Oslo :)
