There are like a million close (10 miles) to where I live, so I don't think it will affect me. I don't really care anyways. Peet's Coffee, Coffee Bean, and It's a Grind are all better than Starbucks anyways. I would be sad if one of those closed.

Wouldn't this be like a weed supplier cutting down on some of his dealers?

Coffee is far more addictive than weed.

Fine...if you prefer crack house instead. But you got my point...

Because people need their daily fix of something.

OMG - lol - so we closed a little early to have a meeting w/ our general manager about our closing, and a zillion people showed up. We had people screaming at the drive through window that we served the cars that had already driven through 2 minutes ago, etc. People were banging on the doors demanding their iced lattes. . . it was sheer insanity.

All I have to say is : Where were those insane coffee drinkers 3 months ago??

Caffeine is mildly addicting: Detox symptoms aren't even serious.  It's like a headache for a day.

You need to be more observant. There have been mention of drugs here and on several other posts. I think a couple of deleted threads also included mention of drugs.

I have recently (as of Saturday), given up caffeinated beverages, my favorite being monster (Lo-Carb and M-80, if you want specifics.)   I experienced a reasonably large headache all-day Sunday, and a small one Monday morning.  I feel more energetic and better than I've ever felt on caffeine.

I think that the "higher performance" is simply a placebo effect.
