The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Ways to move a piano to gigs.
on: July 07, 2008, 11:50:08 AM
Hi, I have this crazy fantasy that I will somehow be able to move around my own piano to gigs in the future. Say a system that automatically tunes the piano is invented and working (someone is working on that right now) and I get myself a minibus or something that can carry the piano.

Now, in what ways can I move the piano without injuring myself or the piano, in a fast and easy manner, load it onto the truck (preferably alone), then roll it (I suppose) to the place where I'm going to play later?

Also, an upright should be easier to carry this way than a grand, right?

I've only moved uprights before, but I've heard once the legs of a grand are removed they can be a little easier to handle...

The store I got my upright from used a trailer that was low to the ground.  The piano was strapped onto the wall and we moved it strapped to a dolly, using a ramp to get it off the trailer and up short stairways.

Other method:  Me and a bunch of friends straining our bones, lifting with all our might.

Best method:  Me carrying my digital piano under my arm.

I just watched this video and was thinking about your topic...  Maybe it can give some inspiration how to move stuff, maybe some motivation too...  Good luck.
