Vortex sopranos.

You know the kind --- when they sing and it feels like their head is going to be sucked away in a vacuume.

Ugh.

Someone trying to write on cardboard with a dried up marker.

1)  someone trying to write on a marker with dried up cardboard.

2)  cardboard trying to write on marker with a dried up someone.

i call it R.E.N (random excessive noise) this includes anything from people talking in the background to cars driving past the window and one that really annoys me is the telephone ringing and doorbells

Woah. I'm the exact opposite, healdie. I HAVE to have the "R.E.N." in the background, because something about just having NO sound at all with another sound layered on top of it makes me cringe. It's weird, lol, and I can't really explain it. The closest thing I can relate it to is in movies liek Mission Impossible or Star Wars when the heros are running up a flight of stairs or something and it's silent, but with the footsteps layered on top. Like a muffled silence, though. Not like a hot summer night silence or anything. . . (if that makes sense at all. . . (?)).

Haha. I have serious sound issues.

That depends entirely on what you think it means at the moment.

We can go from there  ;).

Women are so tough to understand, so I guess my nomination would be the sound of a woman's voice (when not in a piece of music).

With Essy, it's "you say po-tay-toe, and I say po-tah-toe;  you say to-may-toe and I say to-mah-toe."

Hell, let's call the whole thing off.
