Funeral marches/Largo
on: July 25, 2008, 12:40:04 AM
can you give me suggestions for funeral marches (or similar to that, e.g. 3rd mvt. of Chopin's 3rd sonata). I'd like to show to my mother that classical music is not at all times "nice", "bouncy", "soft" and most of all RELAXING!! Already mastered Chopin's funeral march (3rd mvt., 2nd sonata) and the beethoven funeral march (3rd mvt. no. 12 sonata). Anymore funeral marches?

Scriabin 1st Sonata.
Does it have to for piano?  Can you put a CD on? Does it have to be funeral marches to prove your point?  Put on the Rite of Spring - that's not nice, bouncy or soft!  or Atmospheres (Ligeti) - almost made me sick listening to that on a empty stomach!
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

CD's? that's impossible. Maybe some Scriabin would do. But really, I'd like to play funeral marches all day.

Dissonant music eh? interesting. Maybe Messiaen's "Vingt Regards" would be a good idea. Maybe my mom hates the fortissimos
