Does it affect your playing? I have a problem with chords/ intervals with the pinky. First, it gets sort of itchy, and if I push it, it's painful all the way to the arm. So now I stop when it's itchy. It's really confusing when I have to change a lot of fingerings to avoid hurting myself.

Now THAT'S serious... What if teacher won't let you change scale fingering??

We should get medical help before going to conservatory...

Hand injuries are scary!  I stumped my LH pinky good last year (caught a fast football with the tip of my finger :().  I could barely move it for weeks, I was worried it might never heal.  I just tried to clench it as often as I could and tried not to ever use it, and bit by bit got the use back...  I was just thinking the other day, how I can't even tell it was injured now.  But it did take a good few months for it to feel normal again.

My RH pinky didn't go back to normal. There is an advantage, though- it's more independent. If I could play in a way that it won't hurt, there's no need to fix it. But chords would be impossible to play...  :(

I wish that people would spend more time realizing what they have instead of bitching about what they dont.

Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more
