Archery ... Thal... YouTube video

Hey ~

I am looking for a video that I *think* Thal posted ... it was a video where this guy demonstrated how to string his bow...

Does anyone have that link - I can't seem to find it again.

What was neat about it (I thought) was actually the type of bow - it wasn't a modern bow - and I can't remember what y'all called it.

(I know nothing about archery, but suddenly want to learn...)

I think i got that from a very informative yahoo group that specialized in traditionary archery, as opposed to all the modern day fibre glass bollox.

Cannot remember the name of it.

I can't remember, but there are only so many types of bow...

recurve
compound
longbow

Try those first and if that doesn't work post again and I'll think of some more obscure ones

It was probably recurve or longbow.

If it was me that posted it, it was undoubtedly longbow or warbow.

On the subject of archery, are there any French people on here that would like to take part in a small experiment??

It was a 'Mongolian Horsebow' ... I never would've remembered that.

OK... so now.. (darn - these things are expensive!) ...

Where does one go (in Southern California) to learn how to do this - or practice this? I know *no one* who is into archery at all - and I figure trying to find someone who is into *traditional* type archery is probably more difficult...

Over here in jolly old England, there is several clubs that mainly deal with traditional archery.

No idea about California.

I like to throw darts. I kinda think of this as darts on steroids... (as I'm not a hunting-type chick)

a-sharp, I'm not sure about in california, but there are a couple of archery forums you can go to to find out about things.

A couple of all-world (but mostly American I think) forums are Archery Talk and Ozbow, sorry not sure of the urls, and an Australian forum is archery-forum. They all have people willing to help people who want to get into the sport.

Sorry to bump this to the top again - but I've discovered that the college I'm transferring to has an archery team - and there is a local archery "range" you can go for about $25 - rent a bow etc ... and shoot away. Now... I just need a date to go with.  (Thal? )

Find someone who already does it and you're laughing...they can introduce you to the club people.

Go for it though! Archery is a great sport.

I would offer, but the kind of equipment i use would probably destroy the average archery target.

Besides, i only shoot at Frenchies.
