USA National Anthem at the Olympics
on: August 10, 2008, 09:30:36 AM
Is anyone else wierded out by that strange rendition of the national anthem they played for Phelps medal ceremony? Aside from technical problems that had it starting several measures into the piece itself and cutting off before the ending, it was a soppy, modernized version - not the proud standard version that should have been played. What were they thinking?? It was as if they just dug up an old Montovani recording? I had to laugh though - after the spectacular technical difficulties of the opening ceremonies with people walking on the walls, etc. they flubbed the simplest aspect of the entire event--cueing up a national anthem. There's already conspiracy theorists blogging about how they feel it was intentional (cutting out just before "land of the free, and the home of the brave")!! Anyone else have any comments on this?
Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den, der heimlich lauschet.

Who cares about the music, as long as Mike Phelps won, I am happy......
