Olympics!

Just realised we don't have a topic about this yet.

What's everyone watching?

We've been watching just about everything.  The basketball game was fun to watch (between US and China), and the relay race was just amazing!  I'm so glad we won especially since the French did a bit of trash talking before the race.  They all seem to be a good sport about it afterwards though.

We also watched gymnastics and I admire the men and women that compete in this sport.  Some of the moves they do look downright painful but they look so graceful doing it.

dear chick:
good topic!

although i'm just in the other side of the world (minus eleven hours from beijing time), i like to work till late at night and i'm watching everything i can. i think i have seen, at least for a couple of moments, every sport until now, and i hope my five channels' broadcast keep its outstanding work.  ;D

i'm not american, but i really hope phelps make it. the relay was one of this incredible and unforgettable sport moments.

the gym's at a very high level: looking forward for the finals.

best wishes!

I love the Olympics! My favorites to watch are swimming and gymnastics, but I've also seen beach volleyball, basketball, and water polo.

Hearing the American commentators fawn over Phelps nonstop has somewhat set me against him. But who I support really depends on my mood at the time--generally I go for the underdogs.

I get a little tired of hearing about Phelps too.  I mean, he's great and all but it's overkill sometimes.  For instance, after yesterday's relay, they showed the clip of him screaming and jumping around like a fool about a thousand times.  Then they had to show the clip a few times in slow-motion.  Come on already..

Not sure if I know what you mean.  What part of it was faked?

Saw the volleyball, women's swimming and men's water polo on sunday. I'll get a recap on swimming this Saturday anyway, one of my mates is a mad keen swimmer who wants to try and get into the next Olympic team.

Thanks Gerry.

I haven't been watching it much, I keep forgetting to. I have watched a little of the diving, some archery and I'm hoping to catch gymnastics at one stage.
I've done/am doing all of those sports so they interest me.

Also, the little girl they showed singing was actually lip-syncing - the voice was of 7-year-old girl who had crooked teeth and was therefore judged not good-looking enough to appear on screen.

that was hard. i mean, the olympic games are about clean and straightforward competition. this is a kind of doping, isn't it? anyway, it is not surprising...

For the first time in over 500 years, England lost to the French in the archery.

Drat, I've missed most of the archery. All I've seen was the Korea vs Italians mens' teams match. Korea won (surprise surprise...)
