I searched the forum for you, so please excuse the delay. Here you go!

I also recommend you read the part on learning 3 inventions here: https://members.aol.com/chang8828/contents.htm

I think it is great at you want to become a concert pianist! I'm a beginner, too, but I want to be a teacher. Hence the exhaustive search for links, hehe. Most topics have already been discussed in this forum, so it's helpful to search around.

Alwya being with the first.
Once you can master the first invention your piano playing will have already transformed for the better. When students pass through the first invention they automatically move to a next level. It's also because of the strong harmonic coherence which makes this invention a beautiful music theory exercise as well.

The Inventions are great!  Start with #1, and then do #4 and maybe #8, then the others.  I suggest learning each part separately so you can play each H.S. from memory, then put it together.  Speed is not as important as clarity, phrasing (yes!) and dynamics.

Have fun!

Nice to see you working on some wonderful Bach music. I would suppliment your practice with a lot of scales, as Bach requires consistent agility in both hand. Keep up the good work.

Two part inventions are excellent technique builders (can't say I've played all of them though :P )

As said earlier, combined with scales, chords, arpeggios and all that good stuff will give you a good foundation to move on to larger works.

Good luck!

And also, take your time, don't try to get too ahead of yourself.  I notice some people who will learn one thing just to the point that they can scrape through it then move to a piece of the next level.  Listen to the recordings lots too, Gould's amazing!

I've worked through most of them, then somewhere got sidetracked :-\

Anyways, apparently Bach arranged them in a certain order: C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, Bb, Bm, A, Gm, Fm, E, Eb, D, Cm (off the top of my head, the pattern is ascending the C scale, then back down through more difficult to read keys).

Hi,
Another way that helped me to really master the inventions is after you learn to   play the piece from memory study it starting from the end, taking each time two measeares then add another two and so on. Study each voice separately and then together each time. It might be time consuming to do it  that way,  but believe me is worth trying.
