What is/is not an Olympic sport

I think I go with the classics. 

Marathon.  Distance running
Weight lifting
running, sprints
javelin and shot put throwing (although kind of pointless) ::)
swimming, for speed like running
diving
biking, I suppose.
gymnastics


But water polo?
BMX biking?


I guess I think of the Olympics as being classical.

I wonder if there's a list of them all somewhere...

Ping pong... Yeah it is one, but it's not quite Olympic.  The gods didn't play ping pong.

Table Tennis is actually the world's 2nd most popular sport.
He was not of an age, but for all time.

The Biathalon isn't an olympic sport.
