Lead Foot
on: August 23, 2008, 11:26:22 PM
I have a lead foot  :-\ and lead fingers too.
When I'm playing songs that require the pedal I use too much pedal.  Is there any certain way that I should position my foot so that I don't put too much pedal in it?

Same with my fingers.  I've got to work on not pressing down so hard on the keys when I'm supposed to be playing pianissimo.

Any suggestions?

Since you've already diagnosed yourself, why are you asking for a cure to a self-caused syndrome?  Simply don't do what you've been doing. ::)

Listen more.  Train yourself so it's a habit.  With listening or with playing it the way you really want, even if that's painfully step-by-step slow.  It sinks in after awhile.

I thought this was pronounced "Leed" foot and assumed this thread was about Kentaro Noda.

Don't change it, in fact, use it to your advantage.

Play Debussy or Ravel.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata
