There are two types of music, Felia.  German and bad.

Ask any German.

A "German School" doesn't exist. If you want to choose a German conservatory I recommend to get into personal contact with a pianist you want to study with. Like anywhere else there are exellent ones and (unfortunately) very bad ones. They come from all parts of the world.

For piano the conservatories with the highest international reputation are Hannover, Freiburg and Munich.

HI, i just got a chance to ask a German teacher in my school. He learned in Frankfrut. he said Germany's standard of music is extremely hard. *sigh*
Anyway, i keep Germany conservatory in view, because this is one of my music destination.

I would not put any faith into any particular Country's school of music to be superior to any other.

It is the teacher of that school that makes the difference not the school itself.

My teacher who is conductor teaching students to pass the entrance exam for conservatory told me that  the entrance exam is harder than the final exam, coz it is politically desirable not to let many ppl study music.

Why do I have this feeling that everyone is misunderstanding this thread?  He didn't ask about the "German school" of piano playing, he obviously asked if someone could recommend a school, located in Germany.

Hahaha, LOL you may be right. I took it to mean the German method as opposed to say the Russian method of piano playing.

yup right, i am asking about the overall standard of music in germany. Anyway, i got a conclusion, that might be be hard. I am working towards it. Germany is my next stop..erm 5 years from now. LOls...
