Brahms waltz 39/15 - lovely little piece, and in case she looks after some other guy you have not invested months of work for impressing her....  ;D

First disregard any answers given by males (they don´t know what females want - but then, who does? For a while I thought the answer was "everything", but after trying that without success now I am back to square one. But I digress).

Next, you must find out the musical tastes of the lady in question. It will be no good playing Boulez, if she loves Chopin. Most likely though you may have to learn the last Jonas brothers hit, or the High school Musical score ::). Are you sure you are ready for this kind of disappointment? :'(

Then, it is doubtful that you will impress a lady playing the piano. Look at the composer/pianists record: Beethoven never got married, Liszt jumped from bed to bed, Chopin got entangled with George, Brahms was a bachelor... The list goes on and on.

True, Bach did all right, and Schumann too, but both married musicians, and in the case of Schumann, she played better than he.

Nah. Forget about this. Get dance lessons instead. At least you get to hold them in your arms (and they are far more impressed with a man who can tango than with a pianist - who are considered geeks anyway).

On second thoughts, you could try 4`33`` (John Cage), and kiss her while you play the piece.

And here are the threads you were looking for:

And if you want to double your chances of getting a date (in which case disregard the first sentence in this post) ;D:

If I played any classical music to any girls I know, unless it was enormously impressive technically wise, i don't think they'd be interested at all, but then again if you hang out with lots of people who like that kind of music then i suppose it could work.

Ignaz Friedmann, who by all accounts was a highly successful womaniser, reckoned a Chopin Nocturne would usually do the trick. Of course, he did play them better than most....

I don't know about guys catching girls - but I did catch my husband playing piano!  I met him in college band, and he talked me into joining jazz band (I'd only done classical up till then!).  It was really good for me to learn to chord and improvise - and we got to know each other better!

I believe the first piece I played for him was either a Brahms intermezzo (opus 118 #2, or opus 119 #2) or the Chopin Ballade in G minor.  He's still my biggest fan!

Prior to meeting him I had briefly dated one piano player - he got my attention with Beethoven's Pathetique, 1st mvmt.; and Vince Guaraldi's "Linus & Lucy" of Charlie Brown fame!

Here is a bit of a different suggestion:  The Living Sculptures of Pemberly
by Dario Marianelli (from the recent Pride and Prejudice).  This piece is very
romantic, and there is a chance she has seen the movie.  Marianelli
said that the model for the music he had in mind for the score was the early
Beethoven sonatas.  Exquisite music indeed it is.

I plan to use this piece myself. ;)

Agreed!  Women LOVE men who dance.  If you ask her to take classes with you, she'll adore you.  Plus touching awakens the desire to bond.

Not the BBC production but the movie that came out in 2005 starring Keira Knightley.
I found it easily at my local piano store.  Here is a link to the music:

That would certainly get her attention  :D

More seriously: try Satie's "Je Te Veux", it's a very beautifull piece. If she doesn't like it, she doesn't worth any work you may have in the future with other pieces, so quit ;)

I've tried this before in my teenager days....

I somehow managed to pull off La Campanella in front of her too.
She was impressed, but it didn't do anything relationship-wise.

I'm probably with Bernhard on this one - they're not likely to fall in love with someone over a piano piece unless you know for sure that they're really into this stuff.

That being said though, if I were to play a piece for someone I care about and know can fully appreciate such music, it'd likely be Chopin - either the Etude Op. 10 No. 3 or the Barcarolle.

play some pieces with words... if you can sing well of course :D  or someone can sing for you, even this may be touching(e.g. ne me qiutte pas).  unfortunately, classic pieces don't work on girls today :-\

I'm a teenage girl and.. you know what would REALLY catch my attention? Debussy's 1st Arabesque. Such a beautiful piece, I'd probably fall in love with the first boy that played it to me.

Does she appreciate classical music much? If she does then try my suggestion, if not then I have no clue. Maybe something Chopin would be good. Remember to say it's dedicated to her, if you decide against the dance lesson suggestion that was mentioned earlier.

Forget what you think she'd like - what does she actually like??? Why don't you ask her, surreptitiously, what her fave piece is ... then learn it & surprise her. THAT would be impressive. :)
