Download Finale Notepad NOW - before you have to pay!

Just got a newsletter from Finale stating that with the 2009 release of Notepad you will need to pay $9.95.  This is because of the increased feature set they are including.  As a result previous versions of Notepad will be removed from their site.

There will be new program called Finale Reader which will allow you to open, play, and print (but not edit) any Finale family file.  This will be free.

Or... Maybe it's just a gimmick?  Maybe it will return to being free after awhile.

And maybe the older versions will still be out there.

Interesting.  I guess no one else can beat $10.

It's quite a good music notation program.

It was free.  People would get it and then get hooked on using it and upgrade to Finale later.  As opposed to Sibelius.

Somehow I think Finale is shooting itself in the foot with this move.  A reader won't have as much attraction as some basic notation functions to tickle the senses.
