American Vice President - Censorship
on: September 09, 2008, 02:42:01 PM
The unholy alliance between traditional nationalist fiscal conservatives (who have tended towards agnosticism, if not atheism), and fascist Christian fundamentalists, is on the verge of putting a woman in the second highest office, who clings bitterly to her fundamentalist ideas.  Lots of news about her character has surfaced in recent days, but perhaps the most shocking to me, is her desire to ban a whole host of books from the Alaskan public library (she is the governor of Alaska).

What follows is a list of books, which were obtained from the minutes of a library board meeting, that she had attempted to ban.  When her efforts did not succeed, she attempted to fire the librarian.

This is not the first time, the conservative right-wing have tried to take control of the libraries.  After September 11th, they demanded that libraries keep records of all books that patrons check out (when patrons return books, the record is erased).  Libraries banded together, refused, and did not succumb to fascist pressure.

What's also shocking about this list, is the baffled, confused ideology.  The conservatives in this country are so confused by their own unholy alliance of fiscal conservatism with Christian fundamentalism, that they think anti-Soviet books liike " One Day in The Life of Ivan Denisovich" ought to be banned from libraries.  I hope you are made as furious as I am, by this list.

It's outrageous, of course.

For a little satire to lighten the oppressive McCain/Palen load, try this brilliant Youtube take on their teamwork:

Did not know she was a tambo banger. They are dangerous people.

Some fundamentalist scum here in UK tried to ban the Harry Potter books. They did not succeed.

They are dangerous!  It's surprising and upsetting that the Christian fascist fundamentalists, get so much credence in the US, and maybe in the UK too, though I don't know.  If you disagree with their creeds, you are always accused of "intolerance" and "suppressing" the other side.  But if they were in power, the list of things they can't tolerate goes out the door, around the corner, down the hill, straight into hell.  The number of things they would suppress, can't even be counted.  This list is prime example!

If you start banning books, burning them is the next step and we all know who liked to do that.

Sometime in the future...

Serial Killer:  Why?  Because of those Potter books!  I did it because the Potter books made me do it!  If only I hadn't checked it out of the library...

FYI

You should really check your sources before posting something like this.

According to Snopes.com Rumor Has It, this allegation is FALSE.

Check out the site. The list of banned books you've posted is identical to the one posted here.

You've obviously fallen victim to someone passing this spam on to you. Easy to happen.

Oops!  Well, the very fact that it is so eminently believable, speaks volumes in itself.

What are you talking about? If someone told a believable untruth about you would it speak volumes?

If that did happen to you, would you be so contrite?

Give your head a shake. A lie is a lie.

Here is something to consider when to think about somebody who has a good chance of becoming in the position of making decisions for US economy and foreign affairs for 4 upcoming years:

A lie is a lie.

True.
I was just about to puke listening to disgusting speach of Rudy. Palin's lies are not much better.

Is that a drive up window?  No.  Guess not.  That would be amusing.

fascist Christian fundamentalists

That is exactly what some of these people are. That is a very good description. \
These kind of people are beyond scary... And they are very real and numerous.

I am truly afrid now if McCain wins and Palin is his Vice-President. As McCain is very old and frail....

I just cant see what all the fuss is about Palin. She has absolutley NO experience, she knows absolutley nothing about foreign affairs and many domestic issues. Her main platform seems to be 'I am Christian mom, I hate gay marriage and abortion to the point that I am extreme'. Thats it. Nothing else. She has nothing to offer but her prejudice.

I just dont understand why everybody cant also see another clear fact- McCain's choice is just a blatant, weak, and very low attempt to pander to women.....

The book-banning story may be false, but consider this: a state law was passed requiring cities to provide "rape kits" (containing DNA evidence collection tools, counseling info, etc.) free of charge to women who reported to police that they had been raped. The only complaint was from the mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin, who felt that the alleged victims should pay for the kits themselves. During her tenure as governor, Alaska has become first in the US for rapes, and second for cases of abuse against women.

She also fired the state official who was actually making some progress in reducing crimes against women.
