Does anybody recognice this piano fragment ?
on: September 12, 2008, 06:55:42 PM
It's a pretty well known piano theme (I think) that my girlfriend plays alot, we both like to know wich song or whatever it is so she can learn the whole song.

She's a starting piano student but we'd like to know wich song this is, she learned this part from a friend of hers who died, wich is why she'd like to be able to play the complete song.

You can download it here (verry small file), I would appriciate it alot if somebody could help me!

I uploaded it on youtube but i'm still awaiting for it to be approved   ???

I don't recognize it.  Sounds kind of like a method book piece.

Not much help here.

it's not played correctly but it's recognizable: "Conquest of paradise" by Vangelis (Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou)

Yea that sounds like it, my friend is a starting piano player so that's why it's not correct I guess  :D

Only wondering where I know it from, it's used in some films I guess but I don't seem to remember one. It's used in the movie conquest of paradise, I know that but I know it from somewhere else.

Thanx alot though  :)

Interesting, I'll tell her tomorrow  :)

Were from Belgium though but guess that's not a problem  :)

Her best friend tought her this part of the song, and a few days later that friend died. Ever since she wanted to play that song just for her friend but she diden't know wich song it was.

When I came over her house she played it and it sounded familiar... but I could not place a "label" on it, after a few days of looking (without any kind of information) I recorded her playing it (the thing I recorded was on her bad Piano and in a hurry though, she can do much better) and that's how I ended up here  :)

Hoping she's going to like the surprise tomorrow, but I bet she will. Then the next step is learn to play it... maybe with that sheet you just said  :)

So again, thank you verry much!  :)

I think that version is surely playable for her, I hope you will have fun with it and a good remembrance/tribute of/to her friend. This is really a touching story.

Thanks alot, verry nice of you to help and say these things  :)

Just bin a bit crazy lately and I just wanted to help her so badly in this difficult time for her, and I just like to show you how much I appriciate your help  :) So if you ever need to crash in Belgium... haha  ;D ;)

For her playing it... that I don't know, she doesn't take lessons or anything, her friend (who passed away now) and her mother tought her to play so I guess the mother will continue teaching her... However she goes to music school but that's for singing, but seeing as she combines singing and the piano it would be nice for her to be able to play the piano  :)

No idea wether the song is hard or anything, I don't know a thing about a piano  :-[ But I assume you can't play it without the sheet, guess I know what i'm getting her as a present then...  ;D If I can buy it from here, but I guess it's just internet shopping so it shoulden't be that much of a problem I guess.  :)

No it shouldn't be a problem to get that from where you are, it's internet shopping and cheaper than buying the whole album in a music store. You can download it after you have paid and then print it once. I use this site sometimes when I want to have the sheet music for only one song instead of going to buy a whole album.
