I don't know about your country, but we have night masses for 9 nights before Christmas. So it's like a novena. Not exactly midnight, either 9pm-11pm or 3am-5am. Something like that.

I think I completed the 9 nights once or twice. Gets boring after a while because the mass is long and I would still remember the gospels/ homily. Christmas Eve is particularly predictable.

That's quite a common thing...however, it's usually done only at New Year. I have never attended one, I do not follow a religion.
