Playing right now Invention no 14 from Bach...

Allo everyone,

I am new on that forum. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Actually, I am back to piano after 8 years. I have a new teacher and according to his programm in Canada and my level, I will have to play a piece from bach. I chose Invention no 14 that I found quiet nice. I analysed and I listened to it quiet often before I started to playing it. Now, that I can see more the feeling, I am wondering wich kind of exercices should I do to help with that piece. I saw the tips of Bernard and I found it great. Therefore, I am looking for exercices that will accelrate my learning of that piece. Any suggestion will be appreciate or any comments on that piece... I won't change it so don't discourage me... ;-) Thanks !

Hi,
This is my favourite, I like G.Gould's interpretation.The second page is the most diffult I thing, from the middle onwards so start from there when you practice. And a general piece of advice that my teacher gave me. After you do hand separate hs and hands together ht. Start to memorize the piece from the end - starting from the last two meassures and adding the next two each time - practicing hs and ht. I find this way very effective to learn a piece.

Thank you a lot for these comments. I appreciate a lot. I also love the G.Gould's interpretation. For the practice, it is a great advice to start from the middle... I'll do that ! I always tend to go back at the first page !  To memorize the piece, well.. I am not there yet but I will remember your tip when the time comes !
