Here is my first recording of Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1 - the most successful one that I did of this piece. I will come back to this piece in a few years and record it again, as there are many technical problems that need to be worked out.
Still, I am proud of this recording, especially after that Hilton Hotel insanity. I have received a video of that concert - my fingers are absolutely flat, my palm is flat, and I never curve the fifth finger for octaves. That was possibly my worst concert ever. I should have declined the offer to play there - I was so worn out after the auditions!
Anyway, tell me what you think of this old recording - I don't recognize my own playing in this one though..............
