what after Chopin Etudes Op. 10?
on: September 23, 2008, 07:51:01 PM
Dear all,

I just finished Chopin op. 10
please confirm:
what should i do:
repolish them now or go on with op 25. first?

Additional info:

i did some of them when i was younger and i did study the other ones of Op. 10 this year and last year.
i'm playing for fun. However i don't have much time to play.
I'm grateful to the forum where somebody said: "play them in order" and so i did and i must say it made a lot of sense to me. If i recall correctly, the same person said that Op 10 contains all (most) basic movements so Op. 25 is a sort of elaboration. That's why i'm doubting a little.
btw i'm familiar with Bernard and CC.  ;)

I don't think you should even be playing opus 10 to begin with.

Personally I would suggest you do both at the same time.
Repolish and start the op 25th.
However,I would advice to be careful and take your time when you repolish. When you do that, take the time to try new fingerings and such.

Confirming:
In order to re-polish you should polish something, to start with  :o :o :o...
but it does not matter, you can proceed straight to Op. 25, first.

This piece of information makes me confident you can do it.

Are you sure that you have played Op.10? If you do, you must have an accomplished pianist, why do you need to ask others for this?

Proceed with op 25. In some way they are an elaboration, but many of them also handle techniques wich arent being handled by the op 10 etudes. Just keep playing the op 10 etudes clearly, speed takes time.
