Haydn Concertos
on: October 01, 2008, 01:53:35 PM
Does anyone have any piano concertos by Haydn, I only have the popular D major one and I'd love to play some other Haydn Concertos. Thanks in advance.  ;)

Wow! A different version of the concerto in D. Thanks a lot!! By the way, how many piano concertos did Haydn write in total?

There are more, but they are even worse.

He has 11 total. However, all but three are considered to be of doubtful authenticity. Usually people only record the three that are his for sure. They aren't that good anyways. Just stick with the 11th in D major. That's the only one that's remotely good.

Oh, ok. Actually the main reason that I wanted Haydn was simply because his are easy to play...... Mozart concertos seem a little tough if you want to play it correctly. Are there any other easy concertos that sound good??

I guess a lot of early classical concerti would compare with difficulty and quality with the Haydn.
G E Griffin, J C Bach, Sterkel, Dittersdorf etc.......

The Salieri are rather cute also.

Moving forward in time a bit, many of the Woelfl concerti could be played by a good amatuer. Some have recently been recorded and in my humble opinion, leave the Haydn in their wake.
