How to completely clear my mind?... Right now?
on: October 07, 2008, 02:19:38 AM
I've got some longer term projects hanging over my head.  Or hanging IN my head.

I'd like to kick them out for awhile.

I'm wondering what my options are.

Forget about it for a few days.  Not really an option though since it comes back daily, whether I work on it or not.  I'd like to push it out of my mind, completely, for a few hours at least.  I can tell it's rattling around in the back.

How to mentally completely shift gears or shift my attention off something?

Meditation?  Sleep?  A new project?

Find something else that completely consumes your attention for a while. What types of jobs/projects?

Yes, just finding something else to do.  Being rested.  Having fun maybe instead of "having to" do something.  Easier said then done though.

Bob, maybe you should drop the projects altogether.
He was not of an age, but for all time.

Being drunk doesn't solve anything, you still remember everything in the morning just have a hangover to go with it. And simply dumping them won't work, that's the whole problem he can't. Maybe start by going on a holiday and physically getting away from them?

The best thing is to get started on those long-term projects. Cut them up into smaller pieces that are easy enough to do. But first, relax. You need a distraction. I find that the most distracting things are friends, food, and fun. Better in combination.

I can get really cranky after a few days alone. And I go to school, see my classmates, and poof! my anxiety has decreased considerably. I like to go on dates (with my dad usually) and eat at a restaurant. If these are not options atm, there is still Uncharted Waters 2: New Horizons. Haven't played it in a while, though.

I've started going to gym last month, it's done wonders for my mood. Sure, I lose at least a couple hours a week, but I gain much energy. And for the time in gym, I think nothing but happy thoughts. Affirmations. Visualizations of a good future. A natural high. If I can keep this up, I won't ever have to smoke or get drunk.

I still find this to be a trick.

I've got completely forget about a project.  I suppose write it down, knowing I'll check back later.  Then drop it completely.

And set a time limit, a block of time, then open time after that so the mind isn't constantly working.  And then these things can be dropped.

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
