Piano technicians and rebuilders near Columbus, Ohio.
on: October 08, 2008, 02:00:17 PM
Hi all,
I will be relocating to Columbus, OH (what a great place! I am very excited) and will be looking for a technician to take care of my two very different pianos (both 3/4 grands, but one from 2002 and little known make, the other from 1873 and of rarely understood design).
Do you know anyone you would recommend? The ideal candidate would be obsessed with voicing, would be capable of regulating the action and leveling the keys on a modern Renner action that has a lot of mass and therefore is naturally heavy so that there is a smooth and progressive increase in touch-weight, strike weight ratio and front weight, balancing the whole thing on the light side of things. The ideal candidate will also know the difference between a modern Renner action, a Schwander action, a roller action, and an old "French" action. Otherwise adjusting the old one is going to be an adventure!
Thanks in advance for the recommendations. I have already someone in mind, but a deeper pool of candidates would be very nice to know of.
