Music for a little baby! - sugestions
on: October 13, 2008, 06:31:25 PM
Hi everybody,

a big friend of mine had a little boy 1 month a go and I'm going to be his godfather. I'm planing to give him a little colection selected by me of great piano composers.

For the first CD I'm thinking of Bach, Haydn, and Mozart, wich are composers that produced really beautiful music for a baby to hear before falling a sleep.

So could you sugest me piano pieces by these composers wich are beautiful calm and melodic, for a baby to hear? I have already some chosen, but I would like your opinion.

Many thanks

Of course the selected composers are good for a baby, but, wouldn't it be the best that a baby hears live music? My daddy used to play for me when I was little and I think that nothing can replace this, I am so grateful for it. Perhaps you can play for the baby yourself?  :)

Small children, ~1 year tends to love steady rythms, like a boogie woogie bass pattern. It´s adorable to see them dance.

Yes, this is a good idea as long as it is not Schumann.

That can lead to emotional problems later on in life.

Chopin's Berceuse and the nocturne Opus 9 No.1 would be very suitable.

Well, actually, what is "black" about this music, except the "title" ? If you didn't know about this title...I think to me it's just good and interesting music.

Let him listen to all kinds of classical music. Imagine, if Mozart is supposed to make babies smarter, what Liszt could do for him?
